The nursery offers workshops throughout the year and is a invaluable tool to gain insight and knowledge in the field of bonsai . Workshops help inform students on the techniques used to design trees and control growth. Have fun in group settings creating a new tree from scratch to finish. Bring your own tree and get advice and your questions answered. Our workshops are designed to inform students on the care of their trees and help improve their design issues.

Discover the peace and solitude of the bonsai hobby while staying in touch with nature by carving a small piece out of your own. Avoid the common mistakes that many beginners make and have fun as well.

Workshops at Allshapes Bonsai Nursery are a great way to have your friends join in the fun. Reserve space and invite your birthday quest’s, garden club friends, wedding members, what ever and enjoy the time together. Bonsai is a great experience for anybody who enjoys the world of plants.

We offer group as well as one-on-one private training sessions in different techniques for a range of experience levels.

September 27, 2014   9:30 – 1:00  “Making Bonsai From Tropical Trees”   $90.00 (plus tax)

Many people new to bonsai don’t think of using tropical plants for bonsai. Tropicals are treated like house plants and most continue to grow year round with just an average window. Here is your chance to learn about tropical trees as we walk together from start to finish while making your own bonsai. Class includes 4-5 yr. tree and all other materials needed (tree, pottery, wire, soil, etc.) to complete your own bonsai which is taken home at the end of the class.

October 25, 2014   9:30 – 1:00  “Making Bonsai From Junipers”   $90.00 (plus tax)

A great workshop for entry level bonsai enthusiast or one who has a little experience under their belt. Students here will learn the different styles of bonsai, basic wire techniques, potting, and care of Junipers as bonsai. Bonsai may seem mysterious, but broken down it applies basic gardening techniques and art form to create miniature trees and landscapes. Join this half-day class, which sets students up to succeed when getting started in bonsai. This is a hands-on class where all students are provided with 6-8 yr old material to create their own tree, which is taken home at the end of the program. Other topics include choosing tree material, containers, soil, wiring, post care.

January 31, 2015   9:30 – 1:00  “Brush Cherry As Bonsai”   $90.00 (plus tax)

A repeat of sell-out. Brush Cherry are one of the finest tropical bonsai you could ask for. They’re maintainable at just about any size, from a few inches to a few feet. They will readily back-bud, produce heavy lower braches and trunk, have white flowers, and finally magenta fruit. This workshop will be held in our heated greenhouse, no need to worry about the cold! We’ll provide you with all materials (plant, wire soil, pot) and tools can be used for free. We’ll provide everything you need plus lecture/demo and instructional help!

February 21, 2015   9:30 – 1:00  “Beginners Juniper Workshop”   $90.00 (plus tax)

Bonsai may seem mysterious, but broken down it applies basic gardening techniques and art form to create miniature trees and landscapes. Join this half-day class, which sets students up to succeed when getting started in bonsai. Whether you’re a first-timer or had bonsai in the past, this is your chance to get involved while avoiding the pitfalls and misconceptions. Bonsai is a relaxing hobby which most anybody can experience with success, while developing a greater connection with nature. This class is designed to supply students with the knowledge and understanding of proper tree care while including basic tree designs found in the hobby. This is a hands-on class where all students are provided with 6-8 yr old material to create their own tree, which is taken home at the end of the program. Other topics include choosing tree material, containers, soil, wiring, post care.

March 21, 2015   9:30 – 1:00  “Repotting and Transplanting Bonsai”   $55.00 (plus tax)

Here is an offer to bring your bonsai, or collection of trees, (as many as time allows) to receive help in tree design, wiring, repotting, and general tree health. This is a great way to stage your trees on the bench while we discuss your bonsai needs. Course allows students to ask questions, and get advice in bonsai design and care, while allowing time to complete the needed work. A hands-on class to equip students with confidence in order to help elevate their trees to the next level.
3-1/2 hour class time to run through as many trees we can plus 15% off supples and pottery.

April 18, 2015   9:30 – 1:00  “Boxwood in Bonsai”   $115.00 (plus tax)

Boxwood are used in so many different styles of bonsai. Small leaves, grainy white colored bark make this tree a stand-out in anyones collection. Here we offer you a chance to make your own which is taken home at the end of the workshop. Course includes instruction and all materials, plant, pot, soil, and tools to use.
8-10 year old boxwood Kingsville or Midget tree material.
