The nursery offers workshops throughout the year and is a invaluable tool to gain insight and knowledge in the field of bonsai . Workshops help inform students on the techniques used to design trees and control growth. Have fun in group settings creating a new tree from scratch to finish. Bring your own tree and get advice and your questions answered. Our workshops are designed to inform students on the care of their trees and help improve their design issues.

Discover the peace and solitude of the bonsai hobby while staying in touch with nature by carving a small piece out of your own. Avoid the common mistakes that many beginners make and have fun as well.

Workshops at Allshapes Bonsai Nursery are a great way to have your friends join in the fun. Reserve space and invite your birthday quest’s, garden club friends, wedding members, what ever and enjoy the time together. Bonsai is a great experience for anybody who enjoys the world of plants.

We offer group as well as one-on-one private training sessions in different techniques for a range of experience levels.

Making bonsai from Junipers – Feb. 20, 2016 – 9:30 – 3:00

A great workshop for entry level bonsai enthusiast or one who has a little experience under their belt. Students here will learn the different styles of bonsai, basic wire techniques, potting, and care of Junipers as bonsai. Bonsai may seem mysterious, but broken down it applies basic gardening techniques and art form to create miniature trees and landscapes. Join this half-day class, which sets students up to succeed when getting started in bonsai. This is a hands-on class where all students are provided with 6-8 yr old material to create their own tree, which is taken home at the end of the program. Other topics include choosing tree material, containers, soil, wiring, post care.

Repotting and Transplanting Bonsai – March 19, 2016 – 9:30 – 1:30

Here is an offer to bring your bonsai, or collection of trees, (as many as time allows) to receive help in tree design, wiring, repotting, and general tree health. This is a great way to stage your trees on the bench while we discuss your bonsai needs. Course allows students to ask questions, and get advice in bonsai design and care, while allowing time to complete the needed work. A hands-on class to equip students with confidence in order to help elevate their trees to the next level.

Japanese Maple Grove – March 26, 2016 – 9:30 – 3:00

Maples are a tree which captures everyones attention. With stately beauty and delicate looking foliage who can resist them.

Here is a chance to discover what a grove is all about. We will be working not with one tree but with five trees, to be assembled in a shallow bonsai containers. Workshop will outline the organization, prep-work, goals and tree care.

Course includes all materials, trees, pottery, wire, tools to use. Tree is taken hope after the class.

PLEASE NOTE-MAPLES ARE NOT HOUSE PLANTS AND MUST BE GROWN OUTDOORS.

Bonsai Class Follow-Up 201 – April 9, 2016 – 9:30 – 3:00

If your a past participant in one of our workshops over the years past. Those classes provide a foundation to build on. This class picks up where the others left off. Bonsai are highly dynamic sculptures that change over time. Here’s your chance to get the needed help with refinement and design decisions. Branches will be selected, pruned, shaped, ramified, and refined. If you want to see your bonsai at the next level…this class is for you. All tools and supplies will be provided. Please bring your trees and a lunch.

Bonsai with Tropicals – May 21, 2016 – 9:30 – 3:00
Roll up your sleeves and get ready to have fun in bonsai. Tropicals make great house plant bonsai which I believe to be the fastest growing and the most forgiving. This day you will learn about bonsai and what it takes to make your own tree After a brief description, the workshop will offer students a choice of tree they would like to work with. A fun day in bonsai with no previous experience needed.
Some of the topics cover include pruning, shaping, wiring, and potting.
Course includes all materials, tree, pottery, wire and tools to use. Tree is taken home at the end of the class.
